As a part of the celebrations of International Day of the Girl 2021, Trailblazers Mentoring Foundation girls from Loodoi Primary School under the Adolescent Development and Participation Programme supported by Unicef with funding from Irish Aid participated in the “Girls Takeover”, at the Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda
Two Girls, Loma Esther Faith and Angela Elizabeth from Loodoi Primary School in Napak District in Karamoja joined hundreds of girls in over fifty countries around the world in an initiative to “takeover” leadership roles, where leading figures in political and intergovernmental spheres “stepped aside” for a day so the girls could take charge.
On the 08th of October 2021 Esther 15 and Elizabeth 16 “took over” the role of the Director Basic and Secondary Education and the role of the commissioner Basic Education respectively at the Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda. Esther as the New Director, Basic and Secondary Education started her duties by presiding over a staff meeting in the board room. The meeting was majorly aimed at discussing the safe reopening of schools in January 2022, highlighting a number of challenges faced by the adolescents during the COVID19 lockdown with special attention to the Karamoja Region. She called for a multi-sectoral approach to finding solutions to the challenges.
