{"id":1938,"date":"2025-06-26T12:53:19","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T09:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/?p=1938"},"modified":"2025-06-26T16:15:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T13:15:09","slug":"she-leads-uganda-marks-transformational-5-year-journey-with-national-close-out-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/?p=1938","title":{"rendered":"She Leads Uganda Marks Transformational 5-Year Journey with  National Close-Out Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fairway Hotel, Kampala | 25th June 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1951\" style=\"width:720px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/KP204070-1320x880.jpg 1320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The close-out event, organized by the She Leads Uganda Country Consortium \u2014 comprising <strong>Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Plan International Uganda, and FEMNET<\/strong>, together with seven implementing partners including <strong>Trailblazers Mentoring Foundation (TMF), Girl Up Initiative Uganda (GUIU), IDIWA, YADNET, GLS, MUCOBADI, and KAWUO<\/strong> \u2014 served as a moment of reflection, celebration, and commitment to sustaining the movement beyond the programme\u2019s lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The She Leads programme, implemented in Uganda since 2021 under the Power of Voices Strategic Partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, sought to <strong>enhance the sustained influence of girls and young women on decision-making and transform gender norms<\/strong> through advocacy, leadership development, and movement building at local, national, and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Celebrating Impact and Transformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her opening remarks, <strong>Juliet Luutu Barasa<\/strong>, Program Manager, Plan International Netherlands, described the She Leads journey as <em>\u201ca movement that started with a vision and grew into a force for transformation across Uganda.\u201d<\/em> She reflected on how the programme empowered girls and young women many of whom had no prior leadership experience to influence policies, challenge societal norms, and lead advocacy campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1943\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-4.jpeg 780w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-4-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/trailblazersuganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-4-768x512.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Panel discussions featured diverse voices, including representatives from government ministries, Netherlands Embassy in Uganda, cultural and religious institutions, and girls\u2019 groups. Stakeholders reiterated the importance of sustaining the gains of She Leads and integrating its approaches into existing systems and policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kantono Safiat, a youth advocate from TMF in Kamuli, during the panel discussion called for ongoing stakeholder commitment: <em>\u201cThe programme may be closing, but the movement must continue.
